About Laura

My name is Laura Whiddon. I completed my Master of Counselling at City University in 2025, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC. Originally from Ontario, I have been living on the west coast of BC since 2017.

My approach to therapy is rooted in a person-first, trauma-informed lens. During my internship at The Adler Centre, a non-profit organization that brings low cost counselling to the Vancouver community, I worked with diverse clients facing systemic barriers, deepening my awareness of power dynamics and access to mental health services. I draw upon these formative experiences with tact and humility to inform my practice

My work is informed by both professional expertise and lived experience supporting both children and adults through challenges related to executive functioning, emotional regulation, anxiety, and relationships. I am dedicated to providing care that is inclusive, adaptable, and respectful of each person’s unique story.

Approach & Philosophy:

  • Narrative Therapy, Cognitive- Behavioural Therapy (CBT) & Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Trauma informed and neurodiversity-affirming care

  • Nervous system regulation through nature-based, somatic & play-based therapies

  • Empathy, compassion and understanding

I work online and in-person with adults and couples in Vancouver

I offer in-person, nature-based therapy with children, youth, and adults in Langley, BC.

In addition to counselling, I have worked in administration, customer service and retail, the serving industry, front-line work in the DTES, preschool teaching, and farming. I have found what I am most passionate about; helping others process the difficulties in their lives.
